For most of his life, Scott Hardy suffered from extreme sleep apnea. Every night he struggled to get just 10 minutes of uninterrupted REM sleep, yet was never able to do so. As he battled through all of the associated conditions and symptoms, he sought every conceivable treatment including dental appliances, humidifiers, CPAP machines, chest rub products, nasal sprays, acupuncture, growth hormone, provigil, diet changes, throat sprays, breathing strips, tongue radiofrequency, mandibular osteotomy genioglossos, and other barely pronounceable procedures. But after exhausting almost every option, his disorder persisted.

Then, in 2004, Scott discovered two solutions to his suffering. One involved surgery under one of the world’s foremost surgeons in the field of sleep apnea. With this miraculous procedure, Scott’s apnea was solved. He went from suffering through over 75 sleep disturbances per hour to almost none. The other solution, however, was less invasive and now is available to the general public – the SnoreSling.

Sleep apnea and excessive snoring often are caused by the tongue falling back into the throat, thus blocking air and forcing the sleeper to wake up and adjust his or her position. For sleep apnea sufferers, this can occur multiple times every hour and render restful sleep impossible. If a person can somehow close his or her mouth while sleeping, however, then the tongue won’t fall back and sleep won’t be disturbed. As Scott further explored this dilemma, he had a flash of inspiration and created the SnoreSling.

The SnoreSling is an adjustable strap that wraps from underneath a person’s jaw to over the head. As a result of this simple fabric strap, the jaw stays closed, the tongue does not fall back, airways are not obstructed, and sleep can occur without disturbances. It’s a simple, innovative, and elegant solution to a debilitating problem.

The SnoreSling features three flexible adjustment points to comfortably accommodate different head shapes and sizes. It’s also made of soft fabric and is machine washable.
